The Importance of Being Earnest

As the sound designer of The Importance of Being Earnest, I crafted every detail to transport the audience to the world of the play. The sound of the tea kettle boiling and the carriage wheels turning were just a few of the carefully crafted elements that contributed to the play's atmosphere and tone.

To underscore the action, I used a variety of music tracks, including Elite Syncopations and Klavierstucke in E flat minor, which added to the play's humor and light-heartedness. Throughout various scenes, I utilized the sound of a doorbell ringing and the Wedding March from A Midsummer Night's Dream to great effect.

For the climactic wedding scene, I opted for a Ragtime version of the Wedding March by Mendelssohn, which proved both unexpected and delightful. Finally, the Ottoman Courtyard Garden with a Fountain 18th Century Syria track added a touch of exoticism and sophistication to the production.

Overall, the sound design that I created for The Importance of Being Earnest enhanced the play's comedic and satirical elements, contributing to its overall success.

Plaza Suite

In my role as the sound designer for "Plaza Suite," I meticulously curated every audio detail to immerse the audience in the play's distinctive world. The carefully chosen sound cues played a pivotal role in shaping the play's atmosphere and mood.

Act One featured the recurring "Take Five" music track, setting the tone for the act's events. The ringing phone and buzzer cues punctuated crucial moments, creating tension and engagement. "These Boots are Made for Walking" became a memorable backdrop, accompanying pivotal scenes and fading out gracefully.

Act Two retained the iconic "Take Five" theme, while "Light My Fire" contributed to the act's ambiance and had an impactful fade-out moment. The buzzers and ringing phone returned to maintain continuity in sound design.

For Act Three, I carried over the signature "Take Five" theme and utilized the buzzers and ringing phone to heighten the drama. The thunderstorm and rain cues added an immersive touch, creating a powerful backdrop for the unfolding events. "Somebody to Love" also made its appearance, amplifying the emotional resonance of the act.

In crafting this intricate soundscape for "Plaza Suite," I aimed to complement the play's narrative, enhancing its emotional depth and engagement for the audience. The selection of music tracks, the utilization of recurring cues, and the carefully timed fades all contributed to the play's success in conveying its themes and moods.
